Tell Your Story with Google Tour Builder

The last couple of months have been filled with powerful learning. In the last week of June, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend and present at ISTE. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience. One of the stand out moments was hearing +Jennie Magiera's (@MsMagiera) keynote. She spoke of the importance of avoiding the single story. We need to ensure that we are giving our students the opportunity to share their own multi-layered stories.

Only a few weeks later, I was thrilled to be one of the selected teachers to attend the California Google Geo Teacher Institute (#CAGTI17 sketchnote drawn by @maotechno). There, we spent 3 days diving into Google's Geo tools and how we can leverage them for student learning across the curriculum (not just in geography).

On Day 2, I sat in on David Saunders' (@designsaunders) workshop on using Google Tour Builder to tell stories. David took us through an exercise in which we reflected on the turning points in our lives that brought us to this very moment. After the rich discussion, we drafted our stories and then created them using Google Tour Builder.

These two experiences have prompted me to build a new workshop. I'd like to help teachers see how they can leverage tools like Tour Builder to help avoid students' single stories.

Since most of this soon to be developed workshop will be hands on, I'll leave participants with a tutorial for how to create a story using Tour Builder.

Below is that tutorial. It's a large file so it will take time to load. Alternatively, click here to access to Google Slides Presentation.
